Support our mission by contributing today.

At PA Fibershed, we are on a mission to build a fairthriving, and interconnected local textile economy that operates in harmony with nature—benefiting both people and the planet.

Pennsylvania has a rich history as a leader in the textile industry. In its heyday, the state was a powerhouse of production, with factories bustling with activity, employing thousands, and fostering vibrant communities. Every woven thread told a story of hard work and dedication, contributing to a time of prosperity.

However, the rise of globalization and cheap offshore labor ushered in the era of fast fashion, devastating domestic production. Mass-produced, low-cost clothing flooded the market, making it nearly impossible for local businesses to compete. Factories closed, jobs were lost, and our once-thriving landscapes were scarred by waste. Overconsumption became the norm—but at what cost?

Supporting PA Fibershed is an investment in creating a sustainable future for both people and the planet.

By embracing local fiber systems, we reduce carbon emissions, preserve generational knowledge, promote soil health, and build resilient communities and economies throughout Pennsylvania.

We are at a critical turning point. The trajectory of the climate crisis can still be changed—but only if we act now. Your support is essential to ensuring future generations inherit a healthier planet and a vibrant, interconnected community.

Specifically, your donation helps:

Build a Circular Economy

PA Fibershed is creating a regenerative textile industry by supporting local farmersfiber producersartisans, and manufacturers. Donations ensure we can continue developing a supply chain that reduces reliance on imported, resource-intensive materials, lowering the carbon footprint of textiles and providing living-wage jobs in our communities.

Empower the Next Generation

Through programs like the Student Ambassador Program and Workforce Development Program, PA Fibershed is shaping future leaders and skilled workers who will sustain the local fiber industry and drive sustainable change. Your donations help expand these educational opportunities for students, veterans, and returning citizens, providing them with hands-on training and meaningful career paths.

Preserve Heritage and Skills

Pennsylvania’s textile history is rich, but many mills and traditional trade skills are at risk of disappearing. Donations help preserve these invaluable skills and support local economies in rural areas by keeping businesses running, sustaining traditional craftsmanship, and creating jobs that provide living wages.

Promote Environmental Health

Our work is focused on reducing the environmental impact of the fashion industry by promoting natural, biodegradable fibers like wool and flax, which don’t rely on synthetic chemicals. We also focus on innovative solutions to address textile waste. Donations fuel projects that mitigate climate changerestore soil health, and protect biodiversity.

Expand Educational Outreach

PA Fibershed’s K-12 curriculum and out-of-school programs engage young learners in sustainability and regional history, inspiring them to become environmental stewards through mindful consumption. Your donation helps expand these vital educational initiatives, reaching more students across Pennsylvania and empowering the next generation to lead with purpose.

In this moment of environmental urgency, your contribution helps PA Fibershed scale its impact. Together, we can revive Pennsylvania’s textile industry and create a world that thrives in balance with nature.
